EDISON ELEMENTARY
Welcome to Edison Elementary, a 2018 California Distinguished School and one of America's healthiest schools as noted by our recognitions with the National Healthy Schools All-Star Award!
Edison also has a successful Biliteracy program which promotes 5th grade students fluent in Spanish and English and initiated the first San Diego Unified Japanese after school program in partnership with San Diego State University. Edison has highly pedagogically skilled staff who are committed to your students and the community. One of the greatest determinants of student success is high quality teachers that develop collective efficacy, and Edison is an exemplar of robust collaborative and collegial relationships. Edison students demonstrate high levels of academic success in reading, writing, and mathematics as evidenced by their assessment results on the California Smarter Balanced Assessments. In addition to preparing students as proficient learners, we develop them as curious, kind, disciplined, and humble human beings. As we perform our focused work of teaching and learning with excellence, we remind our students about setting habits for health and wellness and loving learning new things. This year's theme is "Invest Wisely," to help students understand the importance of investing wisely in quality friendships, learning and the brain, money (financial literacy), time, and their health and nutrition. Invest wisely!
Edison students go on to a range of middle and high schools, later to college, and pursue various professional careers. We believe that life preparation, goal-setting, and successful habits and strategies begin in elementary school. Therefore, we help students develop as readers, writers, & mathematicians, scientists, global & digital citizens, and thinkers & doers.
